Bowmore 9 year old

Bowmore 9 years oldBowmore 9 years old – Sherry cask matured (Limited Release)

A perfect balance of peat smoke, sweet treacle toffee and zesty orange.

The First Islay Malt

Bowmore celebrated Single Malt has been distilled on the magic island of Islay, off the west coast of Scotland, ever since 1779. This makes it the first of Islay’s eight distilleries by chronology certainly(and by taste too, many would say).

Produced the same way today as it has always been, even down to the use of floor malted barely. Bowmore Single Malt is widely acknowledged to be among the finest and most perfectly balanced in the world.

Bowmore 9 Years Old

Matured in a combination of the finest Oloroso sherry and bourbon casks, Bowmore 9 Years Old reflects the natural elements that surround the No.1 Vaults and the generations of tradition within.

On the eye: treacle amber

Breathe in: rich cocoa, pepper and raisins balanced with citrus tang and wisps of Islay smoke

Sip: complex sherry with peat smoke followed by dark fruits and sweet creme caramel

Savour: the perfect balance of sea salt and peat smoke.

Sherry Cask Matured

Islay malts are famed for their peaty smokiness and Bowmore 9 Years Old is no exception. As well as taking our water from the peat-laden Laggan River, we carefully smoke our malt in a pear-fired kiln, just as our ancestors did over 200 years ago.

This release has been nurtured for nine years by the craftsmen of Bowmore distillery, home of the oldest maturation warehouse in Scotland.
