Chapter 11: Heavily Peated Single Malt Whisky. The smokiest of all our whiskies so far. Matured in ex bourbon casks having been made with very heavily smoked barely. This whisky has an incredible deep flavour. Bottled at 46% and also at cask strength. Not coloured and not chill filtered.
St George’s distillery is England’s only registered Malt Whisky Distillery. It sits in a willow field on the bank of the River Thet and is the perfect location to produce the finest whiskies.
The county of Norfolk produces excellent malt barley which is exported to whisky distilleries worldwide.
Underneath the distillery is a high fresh water chalk aquifer giving a plentiful supply of cold, crystal clear and pure water. Lastly, the climate in Norfolk is much warmer and drier than our Scottish neighbours, helping our whisky to mature faster – so you don’t have to wait so long. The first real English Whisky was distilled in November 2006.
Each of our different mat spirits and whiskies become a new chapter in this never ending book. Hopefully you will find your favourite chapter and continue to revisit it.
