Balvenie 12 Year DoubleWood

the-balvennie-12-year-doublewoodThe Balvenie DoubleWood acquires its complex yet rich and smooth taste from its maturation in two different types of oak casks, carefully selected by our award-winning Malt Master, David Stewart.

First Cask: Whisky Oak

Many years of maturation exclusively in Traditional Whisky oak casks mellows the maturing spirit and imparts gentle warming layers of vanilla spiciness

Second Cask: Sherry Oak

A further few months maturation in European oak sherry casks increases complexity, bringing fruity and honeyed depths to the resulting single malt

The Balvenie Distillery remains totally dedicated to the traditions, care and craftsmanship of malt whisky making and has been owned and managed by the same independent family company for five generations.

The Maltman’s shiel is still an integral part of our malting process. It is used by our four maltmen for turning grain on the floor of the malt barn. Nowhere else will you find a distillery that still grows its own barely, that still malts in its own traditional floor maltings, that still has coopers to tend all the casks and a coppersmith to tend the stills.

The Balvenie Doublewood characterised by: rich honey sweetness and a delicate layer of sherry
