The Glenlivet Distillery, in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, is the source of Scotland’s finest and most famous Highland malt whisky. The site where George Smith’s forebears first distilled whisky in 1747 is blessed with all the elements essential for superb whisky – crystal clear spring water, the finest malted barley, and pure Highland air.
In 1823 the government introduced a new Act reducing the outrageous excise tax to levels that made it possible for enterprising Scots to come out of hiding and legally produce and sell their beloved whisky.
George Smith was the first Highlander to be granted a licence under this Act for his distillery. From the earliest days The Glenlivet has been recognised as an elegant whisky of unmatched quality with a light, subtle bouquet and a mellow rounded flavour.
Made with the same meticulous care for over 200 years, The Glenlivet single malt whisky is a glorious and lasting tribute to its founder. It is truly a national treasure.
